Stephen Lewis, Founder and Chairman of Making Acceptable Homeowners (MAH), has been in the Real Estate Finance industry since 2002 and has over 8 years of mortgage underwriting experience. He has worked for the top lenders including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and USAA, and is currently working as the CEO of MAH in Dallas, TX.
Stephen is a 2008 graduate of Sam Houston State University with a BBA in Banking and Financial Institution. He received his MBA from Walden University in August 2014 with an emphasis on Risk Management. He has worked with the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) and Dallas Association of Realtor (DAR) assisting local communities on the education of homeownership and the challenges of obtaining a home. He is also a member of NAREB and holds a real estate license.
Stephen has held several positions in the industry from Underwriter to Assistant Vice President of Underwriting, reporting to the Vice President of mortgage operations. With a broad history and experience covering topics from underwriting to loan servicing, he has a keen understanding of the intricacies of the industry and its ever-changing landscape.
Stephen has been on the front line assisting consumers with their homeownership opportunities and continues to work with people who wish to expand their understanding of how the fundamental basis are being changed with constant new legislation. Of all Stephen’s activities and accomplishments, he is most proud of his wife, Charity, as well as his service assisting people who believe homeownership is not possible.
Mr. Gavin has been in Financial Services for 30 years with extensive experience in Risk Management, Loan Fulfillment, Call Center Management, Off Shoring, Servicing, Operational Excellence, Branch Operations, Audit ,Change Management, P&L Management, and Project Management.
Mr. Gavin has had leadership responsibility for a staff of over 1400 employees in multiple locations and has a long track record of building high performing teams. Mr. Gavin is currently employed at Capital One in Plano Texas where he is VP of Home Loans Originations Fulfillment.
Secretary – Therese Tetzel
With over twenty five years of marketing and sales experience among three multinational companies; Occidental Petroleum and Chemical, Quaker State and TXU Energy, Therese Tetzel is a five time award winning professional sales and marketer in industrial, commercial and consumer fields. Awards earned include Vendor of the Year and Sales Person of the Year while at OxyChem. In the marketing team at Quaker State she earned a Communications of the Year award for the highest readership response in a trade magazine. While leading a sales team through deregulation at TXU, the team was twice awarded the EEI National Account Award voted by the top 600 US commercial and retail companies. At TXU she had P&L responsibility for creating the department and developing strategic marketing plans for national commercial energy markets worth $1.5Billion in annual revenue. She has managed global brands with full P&L responsibility in strategic marketing and product management in B2B and B2C within retail and commercial markets.
Her experience spans the marketing and sales fields in areas of: strategic planning, marketing, branding, commercial sales, M&A, market analysis, go to market strategy and launch plans, business case development with start up execution, alliance and partnership development, new product development and social media marketing.
Therese has held key management and consulting positions in the following sectors: not for profits, government, universities, telecommunications, retail, oil and gas, energy, publishing, automotive aftermarket, chemicals, plastic and the arts.
Therese is a graduate of Akron University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing. She has attended select executive and finance courses at the Wharton School of Business. She is an alumni of Leadership America and founder of the Dallas Women’s Executive Networking Group.
